The suspects were nabbed by troops of the 29 Battalion during a raid on criminal hideouts in the areas on Thursday, October 3, 2019.

According to the army in a release on Monday, October 7, the four high profile kidnap suspects, Victor Dokara, Dumbari Bro, Gbaraco Kaviloba and Confidence Friday, had been on the wanted list of the security agencies over the past few months.

Col Aminu Iliyasu who is the army’s Operations Media Coordinator said: “In the South-South, troops on Operation Mesa raided the hideouts of some identified kidnap kingpins in Rivers State. The suspected kidnappers met their waterloo when troops of 29 Battalion simultaneously raided the hideouts in Obio/Akpor, Tai and Gokana LGAs.

“The raid led to the arrest of four high profile criminals who have been on the security agencies’ wanted list. The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai, appeals to citizens to support the army’s resolve to rid communities of criminal elements by providing useful information.

“Also, troops of 151 Battalion in conjunction with the 21 Special Armoured Brigade’s Quick Response Force thwarted the kidnap of three civilians by the criminal insurgents in Firgi village in the Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.

This rescue operation was carried out on Friday and the victims had been escorted safely back to their destinations.

The military said the suspects were currently undergoing interrogations and would soon be handed over to the appropriate security agency for prosecution.
